"Cattle is our business in the Chadron area. We have over a 5 to 1 ratio of cattle to actual population in Dawes County.

If you are close to the Chadron Store and you don't stop by, Tom says it's like going to France and not seeing the Eiffel tower."

This Mercantile location serves the area from Lusk, Wyoming to Hot Springs, South Dakota, and from Hemingford to Hay Springs, Nebraska.

Poudre Valley Coop soil testing days will be taking place at The Mercantile Brighton store on June 7th from 9-11am. Bring your soil sample for a free test to determine which variety of seeds, fertilizers and soil amendments you should consider for your yards and gardens.

Cattle is our business in the Chadron area. We have over a 5 to 1 ratio of cattle to actual population in Dawes County. Because of this fact, we stock a wide and varied selection for all farm and ranch needs, as well as for “do-it-yourselfers.”

We have a lot of different and diverse terrain in a relatively small section of the state. Rolling hills, heavy timbers and gentle grasslands are all within 20 miles. A large part of our population works for the government at locations like the Pine Ridge Job Corps and Nebraska Forestry.

Most of the store associates were either raised on a farm or ranch and know the struggles our customers encounter daily. Our staff understands what our customers are looking for, and how best to use our products to accomplish their jobs.

We have an old-store atmosphere where the customer is treated like a neighbor. No ticket numbers here. This is the place for all your needs, from large ranches to the 1 or 2 acres that you might call home.

Tom Menke, the Store Manager, is a very modest guy. He considers himself the professor of Farm and Ranch 101 and would like you to know that class is always in session. If you are close to the Chadron Store and you don't stop by, Tom says it's like going to France and not seeing the Eiffel tower. He looks forward to your visit and to putting his customer service where his mouth is.
